celebrating biodiversity

Friday, June 5, 2020

World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated every year on June 5 to focus the world’s attention on a pressing environmental issue. WED strives to raise awareness and encourage action for the environment. It offers an opportunity to reflect on accomplishments and renew our resolve in overcoming the environmental challenges facing the world today.

This year's theme focuses on biodiversity - the variety of living things in any given habitat. The 2020 WED global campaign aims at highlighting how we as humans are linked to and depend on nature for our existence and quality of life.

Here in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cleanup Solano must cancel its annual World Environment Day at Lake Solano event.

However, we are excited to connect you with the global effort, #ForNature. Learn more by clicking the button below. We look forward to seeing you June 5, 2021.

Local World Environment Day partners include Solano County Water Agency, Solano Resource Conservation District, Bureau of Reclamation, Solano County Parks, the cities and county of Solano, Markley Cove Resort, River Network and Anheuser-Busch.
